And that just may be our cheque books if water comes to the Winds area.
Following are some rough calculations to determine the cost to residents in the Winds area if water comes up this way.
Cost for water main to the winds ~ $1,000,000
Cost for water distribution piping in the winds area ~ $1,000,000
Cost for individual connections from road to house ~ $500,000 (estimated at 5,000 $/house. 100 homes)
Connection fee per water agreement ~ $591,200 (5,912 $/house. 100 homes)
Grand total = $3,091,200
Total per house = $30,912
This is not a figure you will find published in the special edition mailout coming from the District regarding the Lantzville/Nanaimo water agreement. I don't think an explanation is required as to why not - the highlighted number speaks for itself.
Hello, my name is John Coulson. I live here in Lantzville with my wife and two children. I have developed a concern about where our community is heading. One that has grown within me to the point where I fear that we may lose what Lantzville is all about. I ultimately hope to outline my concerns through posts here on this blog. Comments are always welcome. Civility is the only rule - for now.
Thank you
Update: November 18, 2014
Election day has come and gone. I'd like extend a warm thank you to everyone who supported me at the polls and throughout this process.
I was very fortunate to have met some great residents over the past month. Residents who are passionate about this community as a whole.
We had some intense conversations about the community and the direction of it, and perhaps equally as important we had some laughs in the process.
I am looking forward to getting down to business.
