Thank you

Update: November 18, 2014

Election day has come and gone. I'd like extend a warm thank you to everyone who supported me at the polls and throughout this process.

I was very fortunate to have met some great residents over the past month. Residents who are passionate about this community as a whole.

We had some intense conversations about the community and the direction of it, and perhaps equally as important we had some laughs in the process.

I am looking forward to getting down to business.

The Number is 14

Did you know that there are 14 people, including a summer student, working out of the District office.

That's quite an impressive number.

It does come with a few drawbacks however.

  1. It costs taxpayers over $1 million dollars per year in salaries, wages and benefits for all these bodies.
  2. In 2015, almost 40% of the District's total expenditures will be for be for salaries, wages and benefits of staff.  This is double the average for towns of comparable size to Lantzville
Considered from a different perspective, 40% of your taxes are going toward bodies in the District office.

For comparison:

Berkshire Hathaway is the fifth largest publicly traded company in the world.
It is worth over $300 billion dollars.
There are 24 people - total - in their corporate headquarters.
